Jessica Doig. BScKin, MScPT.

Thank you for your interest in Collingwood Pelvic Health!  My name is Jess and I’m a Registered Physiotherapist that specializes in pelvic health.

I started my career in out-patient orthopedics, but quickly became passionate about women’s health.  I had an amazing mentor (and boss at the time) who had been a leader in the field of pelvic health for years.  I’ve had the privilege of learning from some of the top instructors in the world, from North America, to Europe to Australia.

My passion for this speciality grew as I began to see more and more women that were struggling with incontinence, prolapse, and pelvic pain, that were being dismissed by their healthcare providers with justifications like “It’s just because you had a baby” or “It happens to women as they get to a certain age”.   Which, by the way, is not only false information but it highlights a complete lack of education on the part of our healthcare professionals.  These conditions are not only treatable but pelvic floor physiotherapy is RECOMMENDED and supported by the highest level of evidence!

If you follow me on social media, you’ll know that I recently had a baby (15 months ago now) and my pregnancy and birth experience has given me a new appreciation and perspective on how I guide my clients through their prenatal and postpartum rehab.  Childbirth is traumatic to the body and to the pelvic floor and women are given little to no guidance or support in how to recover.  I intend to fill that gap.

If you have any questions about my education, training or whether or not pelvic floor physiotherapy is right for you, please reach out to me via email at hello@collingwoodpelvichealth.com
